## Challenge: Turn a practice based on memory into objective clinical information.

Dialysis technicians needed fewer steps to document vascular access, without adding friction to a demanding clinical routine.

Without a precise longitudinal record, teams had difficulty identifying overused areas and sharing information consistently. Health Data Works wanted to improve this process without adding complexity to clinical routines.

## Approach: Design technology around the real clinical workflow.

Research with clinics and technicians, workflow design and platform engineering. Product, design and AI working on the same process.

The product had to be simple to use during treatment, capture useful clinical information and meet healthcare requirements.

## Solution: A visual vascular access record that evolves with every treatment.

We built Veristra: a platform that integrates computer vision to improve visual identification of access points and simplify clinical records.

Images and spatial representations show previous access use and create a visual history for each patient. A secure, scalable architecture supports the clinical workflow.

## Results: From a clinical idea to FDA-recognized technology.

Veristra turns a difficult-to-measure procedure into visual, structured information used during treatment. Testing with technicians showed improvements in access-point identification and documentation time.

In December 2024 it received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation. Health Data Works is piloting the product in dialysis centers and moving toward commercialization.
