Overview

(01)

Digital Health for Social Impact

We collaborated with Casa Ronald McDonald Argentina to design and implement a cloud-based medical records system for their Mobile Pediatric Unit. The goal was to create a secure, efficient, and user-friendly platform that could replace costly commercial software and better serve vulnerable communities across the country.

/

Challenge

(02)

Accessible digital health for vulnerable communities

The Mobile Pediatric Unit of Casa Ronald McDonald serves thousands of children in rural and underserved areas of Argentina. Their existing commercial software was too broad, complex, and expensive for their needs. They required a tailored, low-cost system that could simplify the management of clinical records across multiple specialties—general medicine, ophthalmology, and dentistry—while remaining reliable in mobile and low-connectivity environments.

/

Solution

(03)

A cloud-based, role-driven medical records system

Together with doctors and administrators, we co-designed a platform focused on simplicity and fast access to critical information. The system provides secure role-based access for physicians, program administrators, and coordinators, with intuitive flows adapted to mobile healthcare contexts. Key features include multi-specialty support, clinical reporting, data analytics, and advanced security measures such as encryption. Developed entirely pro bono, the platform was tested and validated in real field conditions, ensuring usability and reliability even with limited connectivity.

Outcomes

(05)

Impacting thousands of children through technology

In 2024, the new system enabled over 9,000 children to receive accessible medical care. Medical teams reported a 65% improvement in access to patient information and a 100% adoption rate without the need for ongoing technical assistance. The solution not only reduced costs compared to commercial alternatives but also empowered healthcare professionals to deliver faster, higher-quality care in vulnerable communities.
